MISYS HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS PROVES ITS SOLUTIONS’ CONNECTIVITY WITH LEADERSHIP ROLE IN HIMSS 2008 INTEROPERABILITY SHOWCASE

Misys Team Completes Over 110 Tests With More Than 20 Different Products To Demonstrate Interoperability

RALEIGH, N.C. – February 19, 2008 – Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, today announced that it will demonstrate its industry-leading Misys EMR® and Misys Connect™ in the HIMSS 2008 Interoperability Showcase. A featured attraction at the HIMSS conference (February 24-28 in Orlando, Florida), the showcase spotlights standards-based connectivity with real-world patient scenarios, in an effort to show attendees the movement of health information in real time. This is Misys’ third consecutive year participating in the Connect-a-thon/HIMSS Interoperability Showcase and its first year featuring Misys EMR.

Misys is a Showcase implementer and will illustrate its use of Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) standards by demonstrating how Misys EMR and Misys Connect work seamlessly with various other vendor solutions. Misys also completed the latest privacy profiles and has been selected to be part of a Health Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) demo scenario at HIMSS on Monday, February 25, 2008 at 4:15 – 4:45 p.m. in Theater A.

To bring the concept of the Interoperability Showcase to reality and execute the use of IHE standards in real scenarios, Misys recently contributed Misys Connect to the open source development community. This unique move exemplifies open source principles - transparency, meritocracy and relevance - by releasing IHE libraries in order to connect disparate open source healthcare projects and by providing attribution to those who contribute to the code.

“Interoperable information systems are at the cornerstone of a connected healthcare community, enabling physicians to make patient care decisions quickly and accurately based on critical patient information,” said R.L. (Vern) Davenport, executive vice president and general manager, Misys Healthcare Systems. “Misys has proven that our solutions are interoperable, a significant milestone on the way to delivering better healthcare. With recent product releases including a hosted EMR solution, Misys MyWay™, we are also tackling one of the largest challenges to widespread interoperability - low adoption of EMRs by smaller practices.”

During the course of this year's Connect-a-thon, the Misys team completed over 110 tests with more than 20 different products in a collaborative manner to demonstrate true interoperability. These tests also helped Misys prepare for upcoming 2008 CCHIT certification requirements.

Beyond the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase, Misys products including Misys MyWay, will be on display at HIMSS in Misys booth #1601. Attendees can see product demonstrations and hear how Misys is helping its customers make connected communities a reality.

Misys customer Matt Ebaugh, vice president and CIO of Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, Illinois, will host an educational session on Monday, February 25. During his presentation, Ebaugh will speak about Silver Cross Hospital’s approach to implementing a community-based EHR and the benefits realized thus far. Additionally, on Wednesday, February 27, Randy Cox, CIO of Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, Indiana, will present an educational session to explain how his IT team was able to transform workflow within the hospital using clinical EMR software.

About the Interoperability Showcase

The Interoperability Showcase is the nation’s premier forum highlighting the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise’s (IHE) common framework for delivering interoperability across local, regional, and national health information exchanges. It features cutting-edge technology and standards in an interactive environment using clinical scenarios that simulate how health information is seamlessly passed among care providers. The clinical scenarios will focus on clinician and patient access and information sharing across the full continuum of care. The showcase is the place you want to come see interoperability in action to illustrate the benefits of managing personal healthcare. The interactive demonstration will show how interoperability can improve the patient care process and link vital health information to give clinical care givers the right information care. The showcase also features multiple theaters that deliver education, success stories, and information on the national initiatives surrounding interoperability. For more information on the Interoperability Showcase visit www.ihe.net or http://www.himssconference.org.
