Misys Healthcare Delivers Solutions to Improve Operational Efficiency and Patient Care While Preparing Home Health and Hospice Clients for Mandatory CMS Compliance

Latest Version of Misys Homecare with Comprehensive Clinical Guidance Suite to Debut at NAHC ‘07

DENVER, Colo. and RALEIGH, N.C. – October 4, 2007 Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, will reveal the latest version of Misys Homecare ™ at this week’s National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC) Annual Meeting. Misys Homecare continues to meet the ever-evolving needs of home health and hospice agencies by offering a new clinical guidance solution to enable clinicians to provide efficient, patient-centric care in addition to the reporting tools necessary for mandatory CMS compliance.

“With more than 20 years of experience providing IT solutions for the homecare industry, Misys is aware of the growing demands and pressures to adopt new processes and technology to operate more efficiently. Misys customers are able to achieve the highest levels of success in their markets by integrating and optimizing repeatable business processes with Misys Homecare solutions,” said Gary Larson, senior vice president of Misys Healthcare Systems Homecare business unit. “These clinical guidance solution enhancements will help our customers to effectively utilize their resources, increase consistency and improve patient care by forecasting the likelihood of future events based on data from the past.”

Through new clinical guidance offerings, Misys Homecare leverages the power of predictive modeling to balance the need to provide quality care with financial and administrative pressures. Strategic alliances with OCS and Philips, announced earlier this year, help Misys bring these capabilities to their clients:

  • Evidence-based clinical advice: point of care alerts which identify patients who are at risk for re-hospitalization or emergent care.
  • Best practice workflows: helps home health and hospice organizations effectively and efficiently manage the patient care process to sustain and improve outcomes.
  • Remote patient monitoring: via Misys Homecare problem-oriented care planning features.
  • Quality benchmarking: the clinical manager’s Web-based reporting dashboard.

Additionally, Misys responds to the current pressures within the homecare industry brought on by rapid growth and dynamic regulatory compliance. Using the new version of Misys Homecare, every one of its homecare clients can be prepared for the recently announced prospective payment system (PPS) home health refinement and rate update as well as the CMS hospice annual wage index update and billing changes, mandated for adoption by January 1, 2008.

“Misys understands the burdens posed by these changes for busy home health and hospice organizations,” said Cathy McKillip, vice president of operations of Misys Healthcare Systems Homecare business unit.  “Misys is leading the industry by offering our customers a seamless transition to a solution that meets their needs to minimize the risks associated with this mandatory upgrade.”

Misys Homecare solutions will be on display at the 26th Annual Meeting of NAHC October 6-10 in Denver, Colorado. Misys will be showing this new solution and its features at Booth #1025.
