Misys appoints Dr. Jurgen Zech as non-executive Director

Misys today announces the appointment of Dr. Jurgen Zech, one of Europe’s leading businessmen, as a non-executive Director on the Board of Misys plc.

Dr. Zech, who is 63, will join the existing non-executive team of Sir Dominic Cadbury, Tony Alexander, Chuck Farr and Robert Ingram with effect from Wednesday, 2nd October 2002.
Commenting on the appointment the Misys Chairman, Kevin Lomax, said:
"We are delighted to welcome Dr. Zech to Misys. His substantial experience of the financial services industry and his success as one of Germany’s leading businessmen will add enormous value to our team. With this appointment Misys continues to build an international Board with global depth and expertise, which will be an added asset for the Group.”
In a career spanning five decades, Dr. Jurgen Zech has held senior roles in the financial services industry in the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom. Most recently, he was appointed as a non-executive Director of Barclays plc.
Dr. Zech is married with three daughters and enjoys cross-country skiing and mountain-hiking. He is also Chairman of the Philharmonic Hall in Cologne.
As previously announced, George Gray retired as a non-executive Director at the Annual General Meeting today while Strone Macpherson, executive Deputy Chairman, stepped down from the Board.

Gerling NCM Credit and Finance AG (2002) Member of the Supervisory Board of Gerling NCM Credit and Finance AG
Gerling-Konzern, Cologne (1993-2001) Dr. Zech retired as Chairman of the Board of Management of the insurance group Gerling-Konzern Versicherungs-Beteiligungs-AG at the end of 2001, after five years in the role. He previously served as Vice-Chairman.
Kolnische Ruckversicherungs-Gesellschaft AG, Cologne(1986-1992) Dr. Zech held the position of Chairman of the reinsurance group between 1987 and 1992. He had previously been recruited to run a subsidiary company, Cologne Re, as Vice-Chairman.
Colonia Versicherung AG, Cologne (1975-1985) Dr. Zech was a Member, Board of Directors of the insurance company between 1980 and 1985, in charge of sales and marketing. He was appointed in 1975 to join the Management Board.
McKinsey & Co, Dusseldorf/New York (1968-1975) Dr. Zech joined McKinsey in 1968 as a consultant in the banking practice. He became the first German to have been sent to the US by McKinsey. He became a partner in 1974.
INSEAD (1967-1968) Dr. Zech studied for an MBA.
Uniroyal Inc, New York (1965-1967) Dr. Zech’s first job was with Uniroyal in New York.
