Misys appoints General Counsel

Misys plc (“Misys”), the global software products and solutions group, today announces that it has appointed Dan Fitz to the new position of General Counsel and Company Secretary. Dan will join Misys with effect from 20 October 2003, and will be located in the London Corporate Office, reporting directly to Kevin Lomax.

Dan, aged 44, brings a depth of experience to this new role. A member of the New York and US Federal Bars and a UK solicitor, Dan is a US native and holds dual UK/US nationality. Dan joins Misys from Cable & Wireless PLC (“C&W”), the FTSE 100 international telecommunications company, where he held the position of Group General Counsel from March 1999 to June 2003. Dan has worked in Cable & Wireless’ legal operations in London and overseas since 1991, holding a number of roles. Prior to his time with C&W, Dan worked in corporate finance for Baring Brothers & Co (now ING Barings) and in the London office of the US law firm, Pillsbury Winthrop.
Commenting on the appointment, Kevin Lomax, Executive Chairman of Misys, said:
“The General Counsel role is a natural progression for Misys as a Group, bringing together a number of disciplines across legal, commercial, and company secretariat responsibilities. I am pleased that we are able to welcome a man with Dan’s experience to the Group, and look forward to working with him.”
