Management Information

Management Information - Effective Planning and Control

In designing Equation, we recognise that different parts of the business have different information needs. Day-to-day running of the business requires regular operational reporting, provided by Equation's list of more than 250 standard reports. For detailed analysis purposes specially designed systems are needed, systems to help executives visualise the complex operations of their bank in an intuitive manner. And between these there is a third category of information needs - where information is required on an ad-hoc, short term basis and often on short notice.

Standard Reports

Included among Equation's 250 standard reports are the following:

  • Trial balances;
  • General ledger reports;
  • Balance sheets;
  • Profit and loss statements;
  • Cash flow projections;
  • Risk management reports;
  • Profitability analyses.

Report production is managed by the report control system, which allows the bank to schedule reports and direct output for central or remote printing.

Ad-hoc Reports

The bank can design its own reports, as report structures, languages, headings, narratives, subtotals, totals and printing sequences are all user-definable. As the Equation database is compatible with SQL standards, information can be extracted and manipulated by OLAP tools.
